Dungeon Crawl Classics Day is this Saturday July 16. Anyone coming in can take one copy of the DCC Quick Start Rules and the 2022 Adventure Pack and puchase copies of the Limited edition DCC Day adventures. WE have a limited number of last years items. You can get one of those by earning 4 stamps on a Castle Card, which would be easy to do with all of the used DCC modules we have in stock.

RPG of the Week: Dungeon Crawl Classics

Much like Pathfinder and Castles and Crusades, Dungeon Crawl Classics started life as a series of adventures created under D&D 3.0's Open Gaming License. Like the other two, the adventures proved popular enough that Goodman Games is one of the few companies remaining from the 3.0/3.5 Edition era, still publishing modules for the D&D 5th edition game as well as material for what became its house system Dungeon Crawl Classics.

Similar to Troll Lord Games C&C, Dungeon Crawl Classics opts to use its modified 3.0 edition rules and create adventures that have the feel of 1st edition AD and D adventures, with names reminiscent of the early TSR adventures such as "Beyond the Black Gate" and "The Sea Queen Escapes".

Dungeon Crawl Classics Nice But...

The long awaited Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG from Goodman Games finally arrived a week or so ago and it is BIG, over 470 pages of material for $39.99.  Customers have responded well to the book as we sold out of our initial order within a couple of days and have sold through three-quarters of the restock we received.  However, given that it is 470+ pages of material, including an index and a character sheet and forgoing one of the appendices or some of the 10 pages of promotional material at the end would have certainly helped players.  With this much stuff between two covers, the two page table of contents  just doesn’t cut it.

New Titles of Interest

Several anticipated new releases hit the shelves this week.   The long delayed Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG from Goodman Games finally arrived.  As thick as the Core Rulebook for Pathfinder, the DCC RPG comes in at a thick 460 pages, with another dozen or so at the end of advertising material for only $39.99.  I didn’t know what to expect in terms of sales, since we had no pre-orders for it but have already sold out of half our initial order, which bodes well.
Also arriving from Pazio were the Buff Deck and Giants Revisited handbook, both of which sold quite well upon release, though the Buff Deck didn’t have nearly as many illustrations of well-muscled people as I expected.   Compared to sales of their Misfit Monsters Redeemed book, Giants Revisited sales are incredible.
