From the Strategic Games Society
The first meet up for the Strategic Games Society will be on January 17th. We will meet in the Roman room on the 1st floor of the student center at 12pm. At that time, we will organize into the D&D and other RPG groups for campaigns for the spring semester. We will also discuss meeting dates for board gaming and those wanting to get involved in the Greyhawke Gamers Guild. Our Magic the Gathering group will also meet at noon on this day to organize for the semester. I suggest arriving a little before 12pm. If we have others wanting to do another type of gaming, we will discuss this day as well. Anyone wanting to get into a D&D or other RPG campaign should make it a priority to be here this day because the campaigns fill up and close quickly. We will have some board games laid out from the game library for play as well on this day starting at noon. All are welcome which includes community members to our gaming at 12pm.
January meetings for the Greyhawke Gamers Guild
The Greyhawke Gamers Guild will be having a board game day on Sunday, January 11th at Italian Village 405 S Washington St, Carbondale, IL 6290. Map is below. Time for the event is 11am until 7pm. Then there will be a 2nd board game day same location on January 25th.
Consumer Reports recommends the Hues and Cues boardgame
When it comes to mental wellness, one of my favorite things to recommend is playing a good board game. Hear me out: It’s a ready-made excuse to gather with both longtime friends and new ones (it’s a great way to skip past awkward small talk), and it forces you to stop your doomscrolling. Hues and Cues is a great option for board game enthusiasts and neophytes alike, involving guessing colors from a wide palette of options from a player’s one- and two-word clues. It takes just a few minutes to learn, and I can guarantee that hilarity will ensue.
