Gary's Last Day

 Gary Smith, who has been with the store since 1990, has decided to retire. his last day will be March 6 for Gaming with Gary from 6 p.m .to 9 p.m. so stop by and say good bye.

Tales of the Arthurian Knights

 

We finally got in Tales of the Arthurian Knights, a Arthurian version of the classic Tales of the Arabian Nights board game. While quantities last, buy a copy of the game and get the Excalibur and Holy Grail promo pack FREE.

Carbondale-opoly

 Finally got this in after a number of requests. We were bemused to see the store listed as one of the spaces on the board, given that no one ever contacted us about it. We are not complaining of course, since we like the increased awareness.

This is the first Carbondale boardgame published in at least 25 years. There was a Carbonopoly game available back in the 1990s but it has been unavailable for years.  It would be interesting to see how many businesses on that gameboard are on this one.

Hako Onna

 Hako Onna (The Woman in the Box) is based on a Japanese ghost story. One of the players is the Hako Onna who tries to hide from the other players, until she gets hungry, then she starts hunting the other players. Meanwhile the other players just want to escape the mansion before they fall victim to the Hako Onna. 3-5 players and plays in about 90 minutes

New Years Eve

 As usual , we will stay open for board and card gaming until midnight on New Year's Eve. We will have pie and the makings for ham and cheese sandwiches.We are running a Shadowrun game from 5:30 to 8:30 but the spots for it are all filled.

Used Boardgames

 Just picked up a large collection of used boardgames. Working on processing them now and should have them out on the shelf by Saturday.

Used Wargames

 We puchased a large collection of  boardgames and wargames this weekend. Unpunched ones are going in our eBay Store, although you may purchase them in store as well. PUnched and played games are getting listed on the store website and going back in the used game section.

One Successful Game

 Every notice how most designers have one really successful game in them? Although known as the creator of Magic, Richard Garfield has created a number of other games, none of which have attained the popularity of Magic. Gary Gygax co-created Dungeons and Dragons, along with Dave Arneson, which created the RPG industry. Both men went on to create other games but none every acheived the popularity of D&D. Brotherwise games has released several other games besides Boss Monster, but any Boos Monster supplememnt will outsde any of their new games. Even the creator of Wingspan, Elisabeth Hargraves,  failed to achieve major success with her second and third game releases.

Horrified: American Edition

 A new version of Horified with American monsters will release later this year. Some of the monsters included are Mothman, Bigfoot, the Ozark Howler and the Banshee of the Badlands. That last one the designers had to dig for as the only reference I was able to find regarding it were a couple of posts on assited websites, with the original reference dating back to about 1907. Anyhow, if you like Horrified, keep an eye out for this American version

Used Boardgames

 Just got in a stack of used boardgames including 51st State, Eldrich Horror (with 8 expansions), Nightfall (with 5 expansions), Lords of Waterdeep and Terraforming Mards Big Box. All back in the used section.

Open Tomorrow

 We are open regular hours tomorrow, although Gaming with Gary will depend on the weather. If bad, we do not want people coming out just for an evening of boardgaming

King Of Tokyo Promo

 If you buy one of the new King of Tokyo Dark games between now and Christmas, we will have a set of promo cards and pieces for you to select from. If you buy one before the promos arrive, we will take your name and contact info and will get ahold of you when they arrive.

 For those of you that want to see what used boardgames we have in stock that are not listed in our eBay store, here is a partial list. We do not list these on eBay because of the ebay fees. The prices on these games are generally not high enough to justify listing them in the eBay store. However, we will be happy to ship any of them listed on the site.

Rampage Boardgame

 The first version of Terror in Meeple City was titled Rampage and featured Godzilla knockoff monsters scoring points by destroying a city and its inhabitants. Unfortunately the name and theme of the game provided far too close to the Rampage video game and Repos Publications received a cease and desist order causing them to change the name. you can watch Wil Wheaton play the original version of the Game here on International TableTop Day back in 2014

New Games From Renegade Press

 Renegade Game Studios just announced that they have acquired licenses from Hasbro for GI Joe, My Little Pony and Transformers games. Rather weird since Hasbro already publishes games.
