Comics

 Comics will be delayed tomorrow. We received part of our shipment today and will have DC and some image books out at opening tomorrow but Marvel books are scheduled to arrive by 12:30. We will have them pulled and out on the shelf as soon as possible.

Wormy Prototype book

David "Tramp" Trampier was one of the early artists who worked for TSR creating art for the early AD&D books and modules.  One of his signature pieces was the art for the 1st edition DM Screen which we had on display in the store for several years. He was also known for the Wormy strip, which ran in Dragon magazine for a number of years. In the 1980s, he prepared this prototype book to convince ICE to publish the collection after plans for TSR to do so fell through. Unfortunately, the planned ICE publication never happened. Trampier passed away back in 2014 and I only saw his wife a few times over the past years as she became quite a recluse. When she died last summer, her body was not found for 3 days and the owner of the trailer she rented contacted on of her brothers asking what he wanted to do with the items in the trailer. He told them to throw everything out. 

The men hired to clean everything out saved a few items, a box of panels of original Wormy art and this prototype book, which is on display at the store until we either return it to his sister or offer it for display to the Lake Geneva library.
 

Game on Every Table

 We are participating in the Game on Every Table program. Through Nov. 25, buy anything in the store and you can buy a second item at half price for donation to Toys for Tots.

Scouting for Food

 Since we are not sure what time the Scouts will pick up the box on Saturday, if you have any food items to drop off, please do so by November 22. If yo udo not know what to bring, here is a list of items always sought after. In addition, feminine hygiene products are always welcome.

Lorcana Release Tournament

 We will host a release tournament for the new Disney Lorcana set Azurite Seas at 5 p.m .on Nov. 20th.  Entry fee is $35. The tournament is sealed deck with each player receiving a deck and a booster of Azurite Seas from which to construct their deck. 

Disney Lorcana

 We received our shipment of Disney Lorcana Azurite Seas today and have it out on the shelf. Limited quantities of Troves, Gift Sets and Playmats. We will run a release tournament for the set on the 20th at 5 p.m.. Entry fee is $35

Carbondale-opoly

 Finally got this in after a number of requests. We were bemused to see the store listed as one of the spaces on the board, given that no one ever contacted us about it. We are not complaining of course, since we like the increased awareness.

This is the first Carbondale boardgame published in at least 25 years. There was a Carbonopoly game available back in the 1990s but it has been unavailable for years.  It would be interesting to see how many businesses on that gameboard are on this one.

Wormy

We purchased this prototype of a Wormy collection creator Dave Trampier put together back in the 1980s to generate interest in a collected books of the strips. Unfortunately, the collection never saw publication but we purchased the mock up and will have it in the store for you to look through for the remainder of 2024

 

D&D 2E

 We picked up some more AD&D 2e  as well as some decades old Palladium Books supplements for the Palladium RPG. More expensive  Items are  in our ebay store while books priced $30 or less are on the shelf in the used game section.

Magic Foundations

 Magic Foundations pre-releases start tomorrow Everything but Singles and pre-release kits are available at 10 a.m. with the first pre-release at 5:30. Entry fee is $45. We will not offer pre-release kits for at home pre-release until after 1 p.m. on Sunday

Acme Comic Novelty Library

 Readers of independent comics from the late 1990s may remember Chris Ware's Acme Novelty Library, featuring Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid In the World and Quimby the Mouse, among other Ware works. One notable feature was Ware printing the individual issues in different sizes. This set collects the first three volumes of the series but in a standard size.
